Crisian walked through the abandoned rooms of the old Palace. Curtains had been tore, tables been destroyed. It has been a long time since a King had sat in the throne of Cair Paravel. The sun was low in the sky, and the night was growing cold. Crisian remembered his younger days when their was a King. That was a long time ago. Because he was a talking beast he lived much longer than other breasts of his race. He was currently 124 years old, but still young in his mind. He wished for better times, when it was not always cold, and the clouds gray. It made his bones quake, and his heart sad. He wandered for some time, going through room after room. His mind hunting down the wonderful thoughts that were in his mind, lost far away, about this palace.

Kayda had seen her friend go into the palace and knew why he was there. She also knew if a King did not return soon they would all die. That was the one thing she feared the most. Not dieing herself but that all of her friends would too. She walked into the palace to make sure that Crisian was alright not to mention the palace walls were unstable. "Crisian?" She called quietly not to disturb anything else.

Crisian heard his name being called, but it was very faint. He figured it was his memories. He kept walking until he came to a room. It was his fathers room. His father had served under the last King. He was one of the chief advisors. Crisian walked into the room slowly. His heart filling with grief. The old bed where his father selpt was still on the ground, toren to nothing more than rags. Crisian smelled it. The cold and dampness had not taken away all of the scent of his father. He relaxed as he smell the rags. He dropped down onto his stomach slowly laying there, right where his father layed. He began to speak, very quiety almost to himself. " Well dad. I wish you were hear now. I could use your strengh, you advice and your wisdom. " he said softly as he put his head between his paws, letting down a small tear.

Kayda kept walking through the palace trying to find Crisian. Then she saw it. The banner room. When she walked in she saw all the banners that represented Narnia. Most were filled with dust and the color was now destorted. She kept walking and look at them. There were some pictures on the walls where so of the banners were used in other battles. It was like a museum to her until she saw one picture that caught her eye. It was very dusty so she wiped some of it off with her muzzle. When she did she could see the picture almost clearly. she stared at it for a long while because it was of her brother. He was carring banner carrier for the King. This brought anger back into her heart because the Witch had killed her brother. She thought she had gotten over it but seeing this brought back all the anger and hatred. She got so mad that she reared and knocked the picture off the wall; breaking it. She then stood there looking at it.

As he lay there, he heard something crash down the hall. He lept up into the air at the ready. He listened and heard the niegh of a horse. He growled slightly, but began to slowly move down the hall, his ears listening to the slightest movement. He kept walking until he came to the room that Kayda was in. He could not recognize her, for she had her side turned to him and her head down. It looked as if she was destroying the old banners of old. Many of which Crisian knew the animals that bore them. As he looked at the banners and cold breeze blew through the window causing the banners to flutter slightly in the wind. His mind took him to a memory about 100 years ago when he marched with the last King of Narnia again the Witch. The banners were flying beautifully in the sun. Crisian thought of how warm that day was, that final day of warth. If you could he would have rolled in the grass, instead of fighting the forces of the White Witch. He kept thinking, as he remembered the Witch beginning to turn animals to stone, with some new found power. He watched as many of his fellow cats, and close friends met their rocky doom that day. He was one of the few that escaped, and he never went back to that battle for fear of seeing the scared, pain filled faces of his friends. He dropped the memory when he heard the horse stomp on the ground again. Rage overwhelmed him and he lept forward and in two strides was ontop of the horse, knocking it off of its feet and onto the ground, his claws extended from his paw and poised at her neck. " Who are you what are you doing. " he growled, his eyes looked as if they were on firel, his voice full of hatred.

Her ears pinned back she kicked him off her not looking at who it was. She then stood up and bucked kicking the animal into the wall. She then went to the back of the room. "Go ahead kill me if you wish but just leave me alone." She still hadn't looked at him. She was still mad and sad at the same time. She couldn't decide what to do with her emotions. She let her head down a foot from the floor. She was thinking about what she had saw and her brother.

He still had no idea who it was, and he was even more angered for he had just been kicked off of, and his shoulder hurt a little from hitting the cold stone floor. He lept forward when she lowered her head, his mouth biteing into the top of her neck pulling her onto the ground, his sharp teeth cutting deeper into her flesh. The light of the room was fading and it was making it harder from him to recognize the horse.

She neighed loudly as the animal bite her and she fell to the ground. She rolled over on top of him and kicked him in the stomach. Breatheing hard she stood up ready for his next move but she couldn't see as well. But what was making it hard was her mind was already clouded by the emotions she was feeling. Her eyes searched the room trying to figure out his next move.

He recovered from the blow to the stomach, but when she kicked him of he took a large chunk of her flesh with him, her neck bleeding badly now. He moved around her pushing her into a corner. " You mine as well give up horse. You will die either way. " he jumped forward, from the shawdow in which he had been hiding, biting her leg, almost tearing it of, as his slid under her his claws cutting away her under belly, as he pulled her leg with him as he slid, causing her to fall over onto her side, a very hard position for a horse to get up from, since her leg was very badly hurt. He leg go and lept away from her letting her struggle.

She neighed as blood started running down her neck. She fell to the floor again she winced when he sliced her stomach for that was a very tender spot of a horse. She struggled for a minute but was able to stand up again. She then charged the animal and put her head down scooping him up and slinging him against the wall. She then started to run out of the banner room.

It took him a moment to recover from hitting the wall but he was up in a few moments just enough to see her run out of the banner room. He growled loudly. She only had three legs and she could not run as fast. He also new the palace much better than her. He lept from the room and into another. He did not let her see him. He moved quickly and suddenly he appear right behind her, running at full speed. He quickly bit at one of her back legs but missed. He growled and ran faster. However she kicked back at him, but missed by an inch. Crisian growled again, lept forward, biting her back leg and sciling her other back leg with his claws. Because they were her back legs, she collapsed onto the ground and slid onto her side. The hallway was wide so there was no way for her to use the walls to help her up. Crisian lept ahead of her, now three of her legs, very badly cut and bleeding. There was no way for her to stand now. He stood in the shadows, watching her suffer. Letting her struggle for there was no hope for her now. He would let her completely give and surrender before he would move in for the kill.

She liad on the ground struggling to get up but the pain was too great. Her blood was now running onto the palace floor. She scanned around the room trying to find her attacker but her vision was blurred. She could only see shapes and shadows. She tried to get up again but fell back to the ground. She finally just laid there knowing she was going to die. Her breatheing was raspy and the pain great.

He continued to watch. He could sense that she was dying. He walked out of the shadows slowly. " You should have given up when you had the chance. Then i might not have killed you. " he said coldly as he lept upon her again, and bit at her neck, and just as he was about to pull away a large chunk of flesh a flash of light feflected off of a glass mirror, and showed the face of his prey. He immediatly recognized her and saw what he had done. He released her neck from his mouth and stepped away. " Kayda, I i didn't know, i " he was confused, sadened and angery because of his foolishness. " Why, why did you fight me, look what i have done. " he said quickly he was full of despair. " Say something, talk to me please. " he said nodgeing her softly with his paw, being sure to keep his claws in.

She neighed loudly as he bit her again. When he stopped she didn't understand what was happening but then she realized who was talking to her. "Crisian...I am...sorry." She said her breatheing heavy. "It was...instinct." She laid there not moving. "I didn't...know..it was you."

He still felt terrible that he had injured her in such a way. A few tears sropped from his eyes. " I, I am going to save you. Don't squirm at all. " he said as he squeezed underneath her and stood to his feet, her on his back. She weighed at least three times more than him, but there was nothing stopping him from getting her help. Through a amazing display of strengh he began to walk out of the palace, slowly he began to trod, then unbelievably he began to run. He ran as if a lion where nipping at his heals. On and on he went with her on his back. Then he stopped and spoke. " Nymph come quickly. " Sure enough a tree nymph appeared. She saw what was the matter, and Crisian laid Kayda gently on the ground and stepped away. The Nymph worked quickly healing Kayda's wounds as best she could. Then she stood up and spoke. " The horse may live, but her wounds only time will heal. " Just as suddenly as she had come the nymph left. Crisian looked at Kayda, with a gently smile. " Kayda, how do you feel? " he asked kindly
